Mr. Guzman and the FCS Concert Choir sing at Lincoln Center, New York City

Ninety-one people, including members of the FCS Concert Choir, the Ohlone College Community Chorus along with Mr. Guzman, Mrs. Brenneis (FCS Accompanist), family members and friends all went to New York City from March 23rd through 29th. The purpose of the trip was to perform at Lincoln Center, home of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Members of the Concert Choir and Mr. Guzman's Ohlone College Community Chorus combined with four other choirs from New York to perform Mack Wilberg's Requiem, directed by Dr. Rene Clausen from Concordia College. Over 150 singers with full orchestra and professional soloists performed on Monday night March 28th to a nearly full house.

While not rehearsing, the choir members spent their days in New York sightseeing such famous sights as the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Ground Zero, Fifth Avenue, Central Park, Grand Central Station, Times Square, the Brooklyn Bridge, Juillard School of Music and the Lincoln Center complex. Additionally, the choir members saw "The Phantom of the Opera" and "Lion King" on Broadway. Choir members were greeted with snow upon their arrival to the Big Apple. The rest of the week was clear but with temperatures in the 20's and 30's.

If you missed out on attending this trip, Mr. Guzman is planning another trip to either Carnegie Hall in New York City or Kennedy Center in Washington DC in 2013. Next year, the Concert Choir will attend the ACSI Southern California Musicale in Pasadena in March of 2012. Come with us!
