There’s Something About Childhood Friends You Just Can’t Replace

Natalie H. (kindergarten) and Naiyah R. (transitional kindergarten) are good friends and they both come to school early during morning extended care. On March 3, Natalie came in crying because she missed her mom, who had gone with one of the junior high classes on a week-long field trip.

When Naiyah saw Natalie crying, she immediately hugged her and began comforting her. Naiyah took out a pack of seaweed, so we asked if she would like to share something with Natalie. She said that Natalie doesn’t like seaweed, but she then took out all her snacks from her backpack and offered them to Natalie. Natalie chose goldfish.

It's nice seeing them supporting each other. Naiyah is generous, caring, and loving, which is exactly what Natalie needed that morning. It’s great to see our kids fully embracing Luke 6:31: “Do unto others as you would have them do to you.”
