Fremont Christian School

Welcome to Fremont Christian School

Fremont Christian School was founded in 1968 as a department of First Assembly of God of Fremont, now known as Harbor Light Church. Fremont Christian School is led by its Superintendent, Dr. Tricia Meyer.

FOUNDATIONAL IDEA

The founding pastor and church desired to provide a Christian education at all grade levels to any family in the community who would support FCS purpose, policies and procedures. It is our goal that every child who attends FCS would learn what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and would choose to establish that relationship which we see as the only way to salvation and everlasting life.

ACCREDITATION

Fremont Christian School is accredited by both the Association of Christian Schools International and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). FCS Grades K-12 have been accredited since 1978 and are accredited through June 2015. Click here for more information.

Fremont Christian Alum Fulfilling a Dream at USC

Kemana Otosi first attended FCS as a kindergartner and graduated from Fremont Christian School in June 2011. Kemana is now an undergraduate at University of Southern California (www.usc.edu).

Initially, Kemana signed up for the USC marching band. She had been an active member in both the FCS Symphonic Band and the FCS Choir throughout high school. To be in the band she had to learn a new instrument, the tuba. So, with a bit of advice from Mr. Banuelos, FCS Band Instructor, she did. She traveled with the football team to places like Arizona State and Notre Dame.

On September 6, Kemana noticed a dorm flyer that advertised women's basketball tryouts. Last year, Kemana,  Ms. Sierra, FCS Athletic Director, and Mrs. Williams, FCS instructor, had contacted USC several times to try to arrange a tryout. Nothing had developed from these efforts. So now, she emailed the director of operations and they began the process for her to be cleared for a walk-on tryout. The first tryout period began October 15.

"When I got to the tryout, the team was only doing scrimmaging that day so I had to learn one of the plays quickly and execute it as best as possible." Kemana continued to practice with the team whenever she was available until they officially told her they were adding her to the team. Kemana's tenacity is a quality everyone at FCS has always been aware of and it paid off again!

Joining the team roster is a very long and detailed process. But, thanks to Kemana's commitment, talent and her completion of a rigorous course load at FCS, approvals were given.  While she had to give up her marching band spot after the game against Stanford , Kemana is now a player with the USC Trojan Women's Basketball team.

USC is a NCAA Division I school in the PAC-12 conference (www.pac-12.org).

Kemana knows her life is God's to use and that is one of the reasons she was a prominent student while at FCS. She was the only female in FCS's 43 year history to be Athlete of the Year, United Student Body President and Homecoming Queen. Kemana says, "I constantly have to remind myself that this opportunity is not about me or about how good I am going to be, but about how God is going to use me. I will definitely continue to work hard, but it's not about the results I see on the court, rather the ones I see in other people's lives."
