Notable Concert Choir Trips
For the last few years on an alternating schedule, the Fremont Christian School High School Concert Choir performs at Carnegie Hall in New York City as a part of the Manhattan Concert Productions Masterworks Festival Chorus. The Festival Chorus is comprised of selected high school and university choirs, community choruses, and church choirs. While on the trip, FCS students will typically see two Broadway shows and they will take in the sights and flavors of The Big Apple.
In the off-years from the New York trip to Carnegie Hall, the Concert Choir travels to Pasadena for the Association of Christian Schools International Senior High Musicale in Southern California. Joining with other high school choirs from California, the students will participate in a two-day festival which culminates in a concert featuring all of the 600+ students singing together.
A rehearsal- and performance-based class in which vocal music from a variety of periods and styles is rehearsed and performed. Rehearsing and performing choral music is the focus of the class. In this course, students will learn how to produce a proper choral tone, sing with correct technique and support, demonstrate appropriate choral deportment, and experience music as Christian ministry.
Living Water Vocal Ensemble is the premier vocal performing group of Fremont Christian School. Ensemble is the top rehearsal and performance based class in which vocal music from a variety of periods and styles is rehearsed and performed. Emphasis is placed upon achieving excellence in all areas of the study and performance of choral music with particular attention given to the production of a beautiful choral tone, proper singing technique, musicianship, deportment and music as Christian ministry. By the end of this course, students will be able to: produce a beautiful choral tone, sing with outstanding technique and support, demonstrate excellent choral deportment and experience outstanding moments in Christian music ministry. Performances are scheduled during school hours, evenings and weekends.
Concert Choir is a rehearsal and performance based class in which vocal music from a variety of musical periods and styles is rehearsed and performed. Emphasis is placed upon the following: production of a proper choral tone and correct singing technique, choir deportment and music as Christian ministry. Several performances are scheduled. Students also have the opportunity to participate in a choir trip to New York City to sing at Lincoln Center or Carnegie Hall or the ACSI Musicale Choral Festival in Pasadena (alternating years). Participation in these trips is not required, but highly recommended, as they are fantastic musical learning experiences.
